Faith Climate Action Week

Decorah UU is participating in Interfaith Power & Light’s Faith Climate Action Week. In honor of Earth Day and out of concern for our planet, please consider sending one or both of the following messages to your U.S. senator:

Support a Cleaner Future for Our Children
Dear Senator,

As a person of faith, I believe we have a moral obligation to future generations to leave them a planet that is not polluted or damaged by climate change. I support America’s transition away from dirty energy sources to clean energy and a brighter future. Power plants are the largest source of carbon pollution in the U.S.

We must act now if we are to have any hope of preserving the Earth’s bounty for future generations. Please support legislation that gets us to 100% renewable energy by 2050. Thank you in advance for doing your part.

Build Green and Thriving Communities
Dear Senator,

As a person of faith and conscience, I believe we have a moral obligation to leave a better world for our children. The proposal for a Green New Deal presents us with a moral opportunity to respond to the ecological and economic crises facing our country and world. Please support a Green New Deal that includes the following:

  • Emissions reduction targets in line with keeping global warming to 1.5° C and a goal of 100% clean energy
  • A just transition for communities and workers, including job programs and restoration of degraded land and water
  • New economic opportunities for all, with investment in community resilience and disaster preparedness
  • Support for poor countries that are on the front lines of climate impacts
