12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
High schoolers and adults are encouraged to come to Popcorn Theology on Sunday, March 10, at 12:00 PM. (Don’t forget to let your clock spring forward that Sunday.) We’ll be watching excerpts from BlacKkKlansman by Spike Lee. In this film, an African American police officer implants a Jewish surrogate as a leader of the local branch of the Ku Klux Klan. We will explore the film’s portrayal of the systems that perpetuate racism in America, the role of the police, and the movie’s portrayal of different movements’ fight against America’s systemic racism. We will have a light lunch as well as popcorn and pop. Feel free to bring other treats to share or nothing at all! Please contact Karen Esterl, 563-277-0093 or firstname.lastname@example.org, with questions.
